Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a weapons-related incident after a weapon was discharged near three youths in Kitchener early Sunday morning. Police said the incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. in the area of Fairway Road South and Highway 8 South. According to investigators, three youths were approached by multiple individuals travelling in a vehicle. During the encounter, a weapon was discharged and the youths fled the area. No physical injuries were reported. Police describe the suspect vehicle as a dark-coloured, older-model sedan. Investigators have not released descriptions of the suspects and have not indicated what type of weapon was involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
