Kitchener man arrested in joint police operation targeting violent criminal group

A man from Kitchener is one of 13 people who have been charged as part of a large, multi-jurisdictional investigation into what police call a “violent criminal group.”

The incidents were reported across southern and eastern Ontario and Quebec between April 15, 2024 and March 20, 2025.

York Regional Police, Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police Service, London Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and the Sûreté du Québec worked together on the investigation called ‘Project Wrangler.’ The suspects in the case were allegedly responsible for murder, attempted murders, an attempted kidnapping, armed carjackings, armed robberies and armed home invasion.

Six search warrants were executed at five locations between April and December of this year, leading to the arrest of 13 people and more than 150 charges laid. Four guns were also seized.

A 24-year-old man from Kitchener was one of those arrested. He was charged with three counts of instructing commission of offence for a criminal organization, two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, conspiracy to commit murder, participating in a criminal organization, three counts of disobeying a court order and failure to comply with a release order.

Police are still looking for two suspects, 24-year-old Testin Cassanove-Alman of no fixed address and 19-year-old Ingram Mohamed of Hamilton.
