‘Cover up plants’: frost advisory issued for Windsor-Essex

Environment Canada is telling Windsor-Essex resident to cover up their plants due the possibility of frost overnight.

The forecaster has issued a frost advisory for the region, saying frost may damage some crops and plants in frost-prone areas.

Patchy frost is expected Friday night as temperatures drop to near or below freezing. Patchy frost is likely again Saturday night for some areas that remain clear.

Weekend forecast

Friday begins mainly cloudy, with a 70 per cent chance of showers easing to a 30 per cent chance by around midday. Winds will pick up through the morning, shifting to the north at 20 km/h and gusting up to 40 km/h. The daytime high will struggle to reach 10 C.

Clouds linger into the evening, bringing a 40 per cent chance of showers both early tonight and again after midnight. Gusty northerly winds will gradually diminish near midnight, becoming light. Temperatures are expected to dip to around 0 C, raising the risk of frost overnight.

Saturday offers a mix of sun and cloud, though conditions remain unsettled with a 40 per cent chance of afternoon showers. The high will stay cool at 9 C, with the UV index again reaching 6.
