Frost advisory issued as cool, unsettled start to May hits London region

Reta Ismail has the latest forecast for southwestern Ontario

May is off to a bit of a cool and unsettled start in southwestern Ontario.

“We are tracking a system sitting to the south and along with that, we’re seeing some precipitation along the northern boundaries of Lake Erie throughout Elgin County,” said Reta Ismail.

London has managed to stay dry for most of the day today, but we are expecting a little bit of cloud cover with this system.

“It will move out later this evening and our temperatures will drop. We have a frost advisory in place for the area as our temperatures drop below the freezing mark,” said Ismail.

When the system moves out, it will make way for a pleasant Saturday, although on the cooler side, our temperatures struggling to reach seasonal this weekend.

“There is high pressure, but it will be short-lived. It moves out by Sunday afternoon. We’re looking at showers and cloud cover around noon. There is a weak low pressure system that will push through, and with that, we’ll have cooler temperatures and some rainfall Sunday afternoon in between noon and about 4 P.m.,” Ismail added.

Saturday: A mix of sun and cloud. 30 percent chance of showers in the afternoon. Wind up to 15 km/h. High 9. Wind chill minus 5 in the morning. UV index 5 or moderate.

Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of showers. High 16.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of showers. High 21.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of showers. High 13.

Wednesday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of showers. High 12.
