Flood warnings issued for Brantford, Paris, Drayton and Haldimand County

The Grand River Conservation Authority issued more flood warnings on Sunday.

People in the communities of Brantford, Paris, Drayton and Haldimand County were urged to prepare for potential flooding as warm weather and rainfall have led to flooding and ice jams.

The warm weather is expected to continue through Monday and Tuesday, contributing to further snowmelt.

In Brantford, flooding is possible in Flood Warning Zone 2 by mid-afternoon on Sunday and may extend into Flood Warning Zone 3 on Monday.

Meanwhile, people living along the Grand River and Nith River in the Paris area are also encouraged to be careful. Flooding could reach Flood Warning Zone 2 on Monday or Tuesday and may extend into Flood Warning Zone 3 later in the day.

People in Flood Warning Zone 1 in Drayton should also be on the lookout as that area may be impacted by Sunday afternoon.

Finally, in Haldimand County, river flows are expected to peak on Monday and into Tuesday morning. The conservation authority said flooding in low-lying areas, such as Fife Street in Caledonia or Ouse Street in Cayuga, is possible.

The latest warnings come after similar messages were previously issued for the Ayr, New Hamburg and West Montrose area.
