Fergus man charged with drug trafficking during RIDE check

A man from Fergus is facing a drug trafficking charges after he was stopped during a RIDE check.

The Ontario Provincial Police were doing a spot check on Wellington Road 29 outside of Fergus on July 6 around 11 p.m.

When the driver was stopped, the officers said they saw cannabis in the vehicle. During a search, they also found a large amount of suspected cocaine and other items used in drug trafficking.

The 21-year-old was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
