Crash shuts down westbound lanes of Highway 8

A two-vehicle collision on Highway 8 tied up traffic in Kitchener on Monday morning.

Cars in the northbound lanes were brought to a standstill between the flyover and Sportsworld Drive.

Dash cam video from the highway showed a jackknifed FedEx truck in the middle of the road, as well as multiple firetrucks and an ambulance.

Ontario Provincial Police said the truck’s fuel tank was punctured during the collision and traffic was halted while crews cleaned up the spilled fuel and the truck was removed.

No one was hurt in the crash.
