The Granville Street Bridge was closed in both directions for roughly 11 hours Tuesday. At roughly 3:30 p.m., the Vancouver Police Department urged people to avoid the area and use alternate routes while authorities were on scene responding to an ongoing incident. The incident was not criminal, police said in a statement to CTV News. TransLink buses on several routes were detoured, and people posting to social media reported gridlock throughout downtown. The VPD, in a statement, said the bridge closure was in effect until 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.
