Brantford shooting: Potential witnesses uncooperative, police say

As Brantford Police continue to investigate a seemingly random shooting in the city’s downtown, they say they’re not getting much help from a number of people who were in the area at the time.

The shooting occurred early Saturday morning, on Sheridan Street near Market Street.

It left one person in hospital with two bullet wounds. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and he was able to leave hospital later in the day.

Police have said that he was “in the wrong place at the wrong time” and was not targeted.

One person was placed under arrest not long after the shooting occurred, but was later released from custody without any charges being laid.

At the time of the shooting, a number of people were attending a nearby house party. Police described the party attendees as “uncooperative” with their investigation.

The gun involved in the shooting remains unaccounted for, police said Monday morning.
