Westbound Yellowhead Trail reopens after emergency repairs

City crews have completed emergency repairs on the westbound Yellowhead Trail section previously closed for flooding.

The road between St. Albert Trail and 97 Street had enough water to submerge cars after heavy rainfall earlier this week.

Epcor, contractors and city crews began working to clear the water, tow stranded vehicles and sweep debris while completing infrastructure repairs.

The city has said it’s working to significantly improve drainage infrastructure around Yellowhead Trail as work continues to convert it into a freeway.

Now that the area is open again, the city asks Edmontonians to keep updated on future traffic disruptions online.
