Environment Canada has issued an orange watch for a severe thunderstorm for Windsor-Essex. Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. The forecaster says wind gusts up to 110 km/h are possible, along with quarter to ping pong ball sized hail. Rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm is possible. There is also a risk of tornadoes. The storm is expected on Saturday afternoon. A cold front over Michigan is expected to bring a line of thunderstorms as it moves southeast over the area. Power outages are possible. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
