Guns and drugs seized in ALERT bust linked to fentanyl suppliers

Three people have been arrested and charged after Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) conducted a six-month investigation into a number of fentanyl-related overdoses in the Bonnyville area.

Investigators said the accused, Douglas Wright, 28, Bradley Wright, 33, and Roberta Wright, 53, were heavily involved in supplying fentanyl and cocaine to the region – and had strong ties to Surrey, B.C.

On June 5, ALERT, along with Bonnyville RCMP, executed three search warrants. As a result, eight firearms, three body armour vests and $125,000 worth of drugs were seized.

“In the past three months, Bonnyville has experienced suspected deaths linked to fentanyl and a number of overdoses,” Staff Sergeant Luis Gandolfi said in a statement.

“Clearly this is a dangerous drug and those that peddle it have brought unnecessary harm to our communities,” he added.
