We can dig this rescue: Several city firefighters pitched in to help rescue a young llama from a sinkhole on Sunday. Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) crews received the call Sunday at 7:15 a.m. at a property near Fort Road and 195 Ave. NE, where a llama named Runner had fallen into the three-metre-deep hole in the ground. EFRS said in a social media post the firefighters who arrived at the scene first soon realized the hole was too small for them to safely pull him out. More help arrived soon after in the form of a mini-excavator and the fire department’s technical rescue team. They got to work after checking with providers about the locations of utility lines, eventually pulling an uninjured Runner out of the hole using specialized rescue slings.
