Construction on a new school for Stewart Valley will begin soon, four years after the southwestern Saskatchewan community lost its former one in a fire. The announcement was made by Education Minister Everett Hindley on social media on Wednesday. Hindley said the province will contribute up to $6 million to ensure the rebuild goes ahead after facing delays. Concrete tenders went out this week while tenders for structural steel and remaining construction are set to go out throughout the rest of summer. “There have been many delays along the way, which has been a source of frustration - however this project will get done and the Stewart Valley School will reopen its doors once again,” his post read. Students from the area have been attending the school in Success, which is abut a 30-minute drive away from the community. Construction is set to begin in late summer or early fall. Stewart Valley is located approximately 35 kilometres north of Swift Current, Sask.
