Police investigating crash closing part of Yellowhead Trail

Drivers were asked to avoid the westbound lanes between 50 and 66 Street after a serious crash Tuesday night.

Edmonton police are investigating a crash that closed a portion of Yellowhead Trail for several hours Tuesday evening.

A news release from police sent shortly after 6 p.m. said Yellowhead Trail westbound between 50 Street and 66 Street would be closed for several hours.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Eastbound lanes are still open.

At the scene, a black Jeep was seen crumpled behind a dark sedan east of 66 Street.

Edmonton’s major collisions unit was also at the scene investigating the crash.
