Gas station that sold watery fuel still closed

A south Edmonton gas station that sold watery gas to several customers last week, causing them engine problems, remains closed while remediation work is done. Circle K says it is working with the affected customers. It has confirmed water entered the station’s underground storage tank.

‘Alberta Time’

Alberta tabled legislation on Thursday to create a permanent “Alberta Time” time zone on Mountain Daylight Time. The premier only announced the change on Monday and has since encouraged Albertans to try it for a year before criticizing it.

‘Forever Canadian’ petitioner accuses government of stalling

Forever Canadian petition organizer Thomas Lukaszuk says the Alberta government is delaying a review of his proposal for the province to make it an official policy to remain a part of Canada. The Alberta NDP says it has the same concern after the committee met for the first time this week, and the United Conservative Party (UCP) members would not commit to finishing the review during this legislature session. The UCP says it does not want to rush the process.

Legislature seats to increase

The Alberta government also introduced legislation this week to increase the number of legislature seats from 87 to 91. The change was recommended by a panel tasked with redrawing the election map, but the Official Opposition argues Premier Danielle Smith is trying to give some ridings an advantage.

Gangster to live in Edmonton

Jamie Bacon, a B.C. gangster who has been released after serving less than six years of an 18-year sentence for the Surrey Six killings in 2007, will be living in Edmonton.
