Morinville townhouse fire under investigation, several units damaged

The Morinville Fire Department is investigating after a fire damaged several units of a townhouse complex Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 9511 102 Ave around 5:45 a.m.

Video shows flames and smoke coming through the roof of a 4-plex.

The fire was brought under control at 8:47 a.m., according to Morinville Fire Chief Brad Boddez.

Crews from St. Albert, Gibbons and Sturgeon County were on scene to assist.

Three of the units in the 4-plex were damaged, with part of the roof over two of the units visibly collapsed.

The fourth unit received minor damage to the exterior, along with potential smoke and water damage, according to Boddez. Crews were able to keep the flames from reaching the end unit.

No injuries were reported as of 10:45 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
