An Ottawa driver has been stopped for stunt driving for a third time by the same police officer. The Ottawa Police Service says an officer observed a driver going 145 km/h on Limebank Road on Monday morning. The speed limit on Limebank Road in Ottawa’s southeast end is 80 km/h. “Hopefully, ‘third time will be the charm’ for one lead-footed driver,” the Ottawa Police Service’s Road Safety and District Traffic Units said on X. “Same Road Safety Unit officer involved in all three stunt driving charges…makes you wonder what it’s going to take, short of a fatality.” The charge of stunt driving includes an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days. The fine for stunt driving is between $2,000 and a maximum fine of $10,000. According to the Ontario government’s website, a third conviction for stunt driving includes a lifetime suspension, reducible after 10 years under certain criteria.
