Man charged during north-central Alberta drug-trafficking investigation: RCMP

One man faces trafficking-related charges after a search warrant found 240 grams of suspected cocaine, over $8,000 in Canadian cash and other paraphernalia in Cold Lake, Alta., said a news release Friday.

Mounties with the city, located 235 kilometres northeast of Edmonton, began an investigation into drug trafficking in late 2024.

Between teams from Cold Lake RCMP, Alberta RCMP and Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit, a search warrant was executed within the city on Thursday, police said.

The search found the cocaine, cash and paraphernalia.

A 32-year-old Cold Lake man is charged withf possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

RCMP say the man was released on conditions but scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24.
