MacEwan University closer to walking its 100,000th alum across the stage

MacEwan graduates are taking over the downtown Winspear Centre this week as thousands of students receive their degrees and diplomas.

The university, which will turn 55 next April, is getting closer to the milestone of 100,000 alumni, says president and vice chancellor Annette Trimbee.

“It’s a big deal. MacEwan alumni, MacEwan graduates, they’re ubiquitous in the city and the province, doing great things,” she told CTV News Edmonton.

“It’s just a very joyful day. They get celebrated for what they have done, but they also, I think, get support from the community for what they are about to do.”

More than 2,000 Bachelor of Arts and Science graduates walked across the stage Tuesday.

Ceremonies run until the end of the week.
