We’re off to a frosty start in the Edmonton area this Tuesday morning and we’ll stay slightly cooler than average this afternoon. The average high for the first week of May is 15 C. We should get to the 12-14 C range with a light breeze and sunny skies. Warmer air moves back in for the rest of the week starting Wednesday. Daytime highs will consistently get to around 20 C and mornings should be several degrees above 0 C. BUT...the wind will return for Wednesday/Thursday. Expect gusts around 30 km/h Wednesday and up around 40 km/h on Thursday. Spring is our windy season, so we can expect more gusty days than calm days for the next few weeks. An area of low pressure will develop in the lee of the Rockies on Wednesday and that’ll bring some showers to western Alberta. It looks like most (possibly) all of that rain will fizzle out before travelling too far east, but I’ve left a slight chance of a late-day shower in the forecast for Edmonton Wednesday evening. There’s also a chance of some scattered showers in central Alberta on Friday. But, again...most (possibly all) of that precipitation will skip over the Edmonton area. So...aside from those two chances - it’s a pretty dry forecast for the rest of this week. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Mainly sunny.
