Funnel clouds possible in Edmonton area this afternoon

Much of east-central Alberta has a chance to see a few funnel clouds develop this afternoon.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada for areas from Cold Lake south to Provost and that advisory has been extended back to the west to include the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas.

The chance of those funnel clouds touching down and becoming a tornado is low. However, there is a slight risk of a weak landspout tornado.
