Elks extend linebacker Mogensen through 2027

The Edmonton Elks locked up a key member of their defence on Friday.

The Canadian Football League club announced it extended the contract of linebacker Brock Mogensen for two more seasons.

The financial terms of his contract were not provided.

The 25-year-old from Farmington, Minn., started six games for the Elks at middle linebacker this season with former starter Nyles Morgan out of the lineup with an injury. The Elks traded Morgan to the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday.

Mogensen joined the Elks in mid-June after being a late-training camp cut. The South Dakota product played 14 games in total for the Elks in 2025, recording 40 defensive tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.

Mogensen played six seasons of college football for the South Dakota Coyotes, with whom he was named a first-team FCS All-American in 2023. He was a member of the practice roster of the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys in 2024.
