Edmonton’s Downtown Farmers’ Market opens this weekend

On Saturday, the market will take over 104 Street just north of Jasper Avenue.

More than 45 vendors will be there this year selling everything from fruit and vegetables, homemade meals, alcohol, and artisanal goods.

“You’re going to get completely hyper-local fruits, veggies and locally made products,” Quinn Phillips, with the Edmonton Downtown Business Association said.

“The other thing is that you’re also going to be getting single origin products. So these are picked on the farm and then brought here. So you know where your food is coming from, you’re going to get it as fresh as can be.”

Phillips said there will also be live music each weekend, supplied by local talent, and on-leash dogs are welcome.

“It’s quite busy,” said Maria Gafiuk, a first-time vendor selling Asian dumplings. “Everybody’s enjoying the environment … funky outfits going by, lots of dogs, so very welcoming and active.”

The market runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday until Oct. 11
