Dozens of charges laid in northern Alberta stolen vehicle crime group investigation

Five people are facing dozens of charges following an investigation into a stolen vehicle resale crime group in northern Alberta.

The months-long investigation was centered around stolen vehicles, the alteration of vehicle identification numbers and the fraudulent trafficking of stolen vehicles to unsuspecting victims, said a statement from RCMP Monday.

As a result of the investigation, Mounties recovered multiple stolen vehicles worth more than $5,000, including a pick-up truck, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, snow mobiles and other off-highway vehicles.

Two firearms, one crossbow, ammunition, about 10 grams of methamphetamine, and additional offence-related property were also seized.

Five people were arrested and charged with offences including fraud greater than $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000 and dozens of other charges.
