Central river valley stairs closed until end of July for scheduled work

Work is underway to re-deck the Ezio Farone Park and Royal Glenora stairs.

Budgeted at $160,000, the project is part of the city’s scheduled infrastructure maintenance.

“We are proactively re-decking the staircases to help ensure the continued safety and accessibility of our river valley infrastructure. This maintenance is important due to the age and natural life cycle of these structures,” a city spokesperson told CTV News Edmonton.

The river valley access was closed on June 15 and is expected to open by July 31.

Instead of the stairs, pedestrians are directed to head west to use the Victoria Trail shared-use path, or east through the legislature grounds via Fortway Drive.
