Andrew Knack meets his mini-me at Edmonton city hall

Sixth grader Brady visited Edmonton City Hall on Thursday dressed as Mayor Andrew Knack. He even bought a pair of glasses on Amazon for the occasion.

There was a new mayor – a kid mayor – in town on Thursday, paying homage to Edmonton’s top politician.

Brady, a sixth-grade student at Michael Strembitsky School, joined his class at Edmonton city hall in the afternoon for a mock council. He was assigned to take on Mayor Andrew Knack’s role, and decided he might as well look the part.

That part included a blue suit and Knack’s iconic blue frames, which Brady ordered specially for the occasion. It did not, however, include what Knack thought was a pretty important element.

“A delight to meet a mini-me, although he should have shaved his head, that’s the only other advice I’d offer him. Otherwise, perfect,” he told media on Thursday.

Mayor Brady and his classmates got the chance to meet Knack and other city councillors as well as ask them questions about the job.

“It was kind of awesome,” he said. “He’s really nice.”
