A semi-exhaustive list of Edmonton weekend events before Christmas

‘Tis the weekend before Christmas, and there aren’t too many new things to check out, but here is a list of events, festive or otherwise, that are only in the city this weekend.

The Nitro Circus “Off the Rails” World Tour comes to Rogers Place Saturday at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The thrill-seeking show features world-class daredevils doing every stunt imaginable in freestyle motocross, BMX, skate, scooter and more. Tickets begin at $102.

Soft-rock Australian duo Air Supply play at the Edmonton Expo centre on Saturday night with their 50th Anniversary Celebration. Tickets to the 7 p.m. show cost $154.

As for festive shows, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s A Very Merry Pops comes to the Winspear Centre from Friday to Tuesday. This annual tradition of a concert includes all the nostalgic carols you’re familiar with.

The Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium will stage Shumka’s Canada’s Ukrainian Nutcracker on Saturday and Sunday. The show features more than 80 performers and blends classical ballet with vibrant Ukrainian dance. There are three showings across the two days with tickets beginning at $75.

The Edmonton Oilers are also home for a Sunday evening game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Tickets can be found on the Rogers Place website.

While some of these events have been underway for a few weeks now, here’s a memory refresh of some popular places to check out for twinkling lights and festive decorations this weekend.

• Edmonton Christmas Market: Fort Edmonton Park; runs until Sunday at 8 p.m.
• Glow Christmas Festival: Edmonton Expo Centre; every night but Christmas Day (times vary, but most times are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
• Alberta Legislature: Free light displays and photo opportunities at the legislature until Saturday night
• Candy Cane Lane: Crestwood neighbourhood every night until Jan. 2
• Canadian Tire Magic of Lights: Rad Torque Raceway, until Jan. 3
• Zoominescence: Edmonton Valley Zoo, runs until Jan. 4
• Holiday Train: Saturday only. Begins at Clareview LRT station at 5:15 p.m.
