$37K in cocaine, 89,000 illegal cigarettes seized in west Edmonton drug bust

Edmonton police seized 600g of cocaine and 89,000 contraband cigarettes in a bust late November.

Three men are facing multiple charges after a drug trafficking investigation by police in west Edmonton led to the seizure of almost $37,000 worth of cocaine and tens of thousands of contraband cigarettes, among other illegal property.

On Nov. 25, the drug and gang enforcement section of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) executed a search warrant on a home in the area of 214 Street and 49 Avenue.

There, officers seized:

• 632 grams of cocaine with an approximate street value of $37,000;
• 89,020 contraband cigarettes;
• a loaded handgun;
• approximately $34,000 in cash;
• other drug trafficking items including cell phones, scales, baggies and more;
• a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover and a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander were also seized as offence-related property.

Three men between the ages of 18 and 22 now face joint charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and possession of a loaded restricted firearm.
