2 dead in highway crash northeast of Edmonton

Two people are dead after an early Tuesday morning crash west of Redwater.

Mounties say two SUVs travelling on Highway 28 crashed head-on near Range Road 223 around 5:40 a.m.

A 59-year-old woman from Edmonton and a 64-year-old resident of Radway were declared dead on the scene. There were no other occupants in either of the vehicles.

Road and weather conditions are considered to be factors in the crash.

Redwater is about 50 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
