A southern Alberta man is facing a laundry list of charges after an investigation involving three different RCMP detachments. The investigation began in mid-October, when Didsbury RCMP received reports of suspects using a butane extractor as part of an illegal cannabis operation. RCMP officers from Didsbury, Airdrie and Olds worked together to search a home in Carstairs and an Airdrie business. While searching the Carstairs home, officers located a butane extractor. “This extractor is volatile in nature if not monitored/operated correctly, and possessed an explosion/fire risk to the public of Carstairs,” RCMP said in a Wednesday news release. RCMP also seized the following: Officers arrested a man from the Airdrie business, and say he was in possession of $1,900 in cash and various quantities of other drugs, all believed to be “possessed for illicit sales.” The accused, a 59-year-old man from Carstairs, is charged with almost two-dozen offences including assault and trafficking a controlled substance. He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
