‘There’s probably drugs in here’: Calgary police seize $6K in drugs from parked car

A Calgary man is facing charges after police allegedly found him passed out in car that had $6,600-worth of drugs inside.

Officers took the accused into custody on New Year’s Eve after coming across a 2011 Mazda 3 running in a parking lot on Brentwood Road N.W. just before 2 a.m.

Police said the accused appeared to be “unconscious” behind the wheel.

“When officers woke him up and spoke to him, they suspected he was impaired by drugs and conducted a roadside sobriety test,” police said in a Wednesday news release. “The driver failed and was arrested for drug-impaired driving.”

While searching the vehicle, police seized psilocybin, hundreds of pharmaceutical pills, MDMA, LSD and cocaine, as well as a small amount of cash.

A photo released by the Calgary Police Service shows the illicit items seized, including a black and white zippered bag that says, “There’s probably drugs in here.”

Police say additional tests later concluded the driver “was impaired by a drug,” though he refused to provide a blood sample.

He is facing 10 charges and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
