Southwest Calgary neighbourhoods in the dark after electrical pole fire

Crews responded to an electrical pole fire on April 6, 2026 in the southwest Calgary neighbourhood of Canyon Meadows.

Power has been restored for about 150 households in southwest Calgary were left without power on Monday evening after an electrical pole fire.

Calgary fire crews and Calgary police were called to the of Anderson Road and Macleod Trail S.W. at around 7:15 p.m. on Monday after a transformer began sparking and live wires lay in the roadway.

Police said Anderson Road was closed in both directions at Macleod Trail S.W.

The Enmax power outage map showed 154 customers were in the dark, with the communities of Southwood, Canyon Meadows, Haysboro, Braeside and Palliser affected.

Enmax said the power came back at around 9:30 p.m.
