RCMP commercial vehicle inspection in Lake Louise yields 17 tickets

More than 50 commercial vehicles were inspected by Lake Louise RCMP between Oct. 7 and Oct. 9.

A commercial vehicle inspection by Lake Louise RCMP and other agencies resulted in 17 tickets being issued.

From Oct. 7 to 9, Lake Louise officers, with help from Banff RCMP, Alberta RCMP Traffic, Alberta Sheriffs and Alberta Transportation, undertook an inspection to make sure commercial vehicles travelling through the area were in safe working condition and in compliance with provincial and federal legislation.

Several inspectors were specially trained to inspect commercial vehicles and motorcoaches.

More than 50 commercial vehicles were inspected, resulting in 22 requiring attention and eight being pulled out of service.

Seventeen tickets were issued.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe on our roads,” said Sgt. Susan Richter, detachment commander for the Lake Louise RCMP. “By educating commercial operators and enforcing safety standards, we are helping to reduce risks and promote safer travel across our communities.”
