No charges in hair stroking incident

A screen capture of from a video making the rounds on social media shows a man touching the hair of an unidentified woman on the CTrain. The video is now in the hands of the police.

Calgary Police say that they won’t be laying any charges in a bizarre incident where a man was caught on camera touching the hair of a female passenger.

They say they’ve identified both of the parties involved and have spoken with them.

As a result, they say no charges will be laid because there is no risk to public safety.

A video of a young man touching the hair of a female passenger on the CTrain circulated on social media through December 2012 to January 2013.

It didn’t appear that the woman noticed the man touching her hair nor does it appear that the man notices he is being taped while doing it.

At the time, transit riders who saw the video were appalled at the actions, calling them ‘creepy’.

Others were questioning the validity of the footage, believing it to be a hoax.

Police thank the public and media for their assistance and now consider the matter closed.
