Medicine Hat Tigers score early and often en route to 7-1 win over Hitmen

The Tigers hosted the Hitmen in Medicine Hat Saturday night in WHL action.

The Medicine Hat Tigers started strong and didn’t take their foot off the gas until they had a 7-1 win against the Calgary Hitmen Saturday night.

The Tigers got a goal 13 seconds into the game from Yaroslav Bryzgalov and built a two-goal lead when Liam Ruck struck on a power play eight minutes into the first.

The lead grew to three when Carter Cunningham scored early in the second before Calgary got one back on a goal from Landon Amrhein to make it 3-1.

However, the Tigers kept the pedal to the metal, when Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll scored 20 seconds later, followed by three more from Misha Volotovskii, Veeti Vaisanen and Gordon-Carroll.

Medicine Hat outshot the Hitmen 37-31.

The Hitmen are back at the Saddledome Sunday to take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a matinee game. Puck drop is 4 p.m.
