Man dies after being run over; Calgary police investigating whether that’s what killed him

Calgary police say they’re investigating what might or might not be a fatal collision in the city’s southwest.

The incident happened around 8:20 p.m. on April 12 in the area of 16 Avenue and 8 Street S.W.

According to police, a man crossed the road and either “fell or laid down” behind a parked vehicle.

Police say the man was run over “several minutes later” when the driver of the vehicle returned and went to pull out of the spot.

The man died in hospital.

Now, police say they’re waiting on autopsy results to figure out “whether the man passed away from injuries sustained during the collision.”

Police say the man is in his 50s, but he “remains unidentified at this time.”

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
