Jason Glass takes advantage of fast conditions at Rangeland Derby to ride best time of the night

Jason Glass won Tuesday night at the Rangeland Derby at the Calgary Stampede, earning $6,500.

A hot night at the Calgary Stampede translated into a winning ride for Jason Glass at the Rangeland Derby Tuesday.

With the track at GMC Stadium in perfect condition, Glass won the eighth heat with a time of 1:10:45, giving him the win over second-place Chance Vigen, who won the ninth heat with a time of 1:11:36.

Logan Gorst finished third, Dustin Gorst placed fourth and Jamie Laboucane placed fifth.

Glass took home $6,500 while Vigen won $5,500. Logan Gorst won $4,800.

At the halfway mark of this year’s derby, Jamie Laboucane leads with a five-day aggregate total of 6:02.38. That’s .35 better than second-place Chanse Vigen, with Ray Croteau Jr. third.

Glass climbed into fourth place with his win Tuesday night and Chad Fike is sitting in fifth.

The Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby continues nightly through Saturday, with the riders with the top three aggregate times advancing to Sunday’s championship final.
