‘I couldn’t breathe’: Alberta couple wins $100K on scratch-and-win lottery ticket

A southern Alberta couple is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win.

Brenda and Michael Laham’s windfall comes from a $20 Crossword scratch-and-win ticket.

The Milk River residents purchased the ticket at the South Country Co-op Chinook Gas Bar in Lethbridge while stopping to fuel up their vehicle.

Brenda said when she scanned the ticket, the screen lit up with the winning number.

“I was shaking like a leaf,” she said. “I couldn’t breathe but I was smiling big.”

Brenda said the pair has no plans for the winnings just yet.

“We will probably pay some bills and then we’ll see.”
