City streets to be clogged with close to 20K runners over weekend: marathon organizers

The route for the 2026 Calgary Marathon

Abou 20,000 people are expected to hit the streets this weekend for the Calgary Marathon.

Organizers say registration is up 15 per cent over 2025,surpassing last year’s record of 17,300 participants.

On Saturday it’s the five-and-10 kilometre runs, while the half and full marathon races are slated for Sunday.

Drivers should prepare for significant road closures both days along the race routes.

The marathon weekend is also expected to raise nearly $1 million for local charities.
