City rolls out Advance Vote bus

The City of Calgary is looking to make voting easier for all eligible voters ahead of Election Day.

Advance voting will be held on October 9-13 and 15-16 and, as a pilot project, officials are offering an Advance Vote bus stationed at some LRT stations across the city.

The bus will be accessible during the morning and evening rush hours.

Voters will be able to cast their ballots provided they bring authorized identification.

“The Advance Vote bus pilot offers another solution for electors without easy access to vehicles and who would find it otherwise challenging to get to their Voting Station on Election Day. It is also another convenient option for voters who are always on the go; electors can make a quick stop at their LRT station and vote while on their commute to work or home,” says Barb Clifford, Returning Officer in a release.

Voters are also allowed to cast their ballot at one of the Advance Vote stations should they not want to use the Advance Vote bus.

During the Advance Vote period ONLY, blind and visually impaired electors can use a special template to mark their ballots without assistance.
