If you ever find yourself at a reception centre for displaced individuals, you might see her there. She might also be found at the emergency operations centre, supporting CEMA members. “Minnie’s role is to provide a sense of calm when people need it most,” said Sue Henry, CEMA chief. “Even a brief interaction, whether it’s petting Minnie or simply having her sit nearby, can make a meaningful difference for someone going through a difficult experience.” The not-for-profit Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society trained Minnie. CEO Greg Loveday said Minnie “represents the very best of what assistance dogs can offer.” He said that includes “comfort, connection and unconditional support.” “Knowing she will be there for people when they need it most makes us incredibly proud and is at the heart of our mission,” he said.
