600,000 Calgary property tax bills are in the mail; payment is due by June 30

Residential and non‑residential property owners can expect their tax bills to show up in their mailboxes soon.

And they’ll need to be settled by June 30.

According to a City of Calgary release issued midday Friday, 600,000 property tax bills are in the mail.

The city says a seven per cent late penalty will be applied starting July 1, regardless of whether property owners actually received their tax bills.

The city suggested calling 311 for a statement of account if a tax bill hasn’t turned up by June 1.

Online resources are available to property owners:

• The past several years of tax bills are available through calgary.ca/mytax;
• The Tax Instalment Payment Plan can be joined by going to calgary.ca/TIPP;
• Information on payment options and property tax assistance programs can be found at calgary.ca/propertytax; and
• A breakdown of how tax money that remains with the city is spent is available at calgary.ca/taxcalculator.

Forty-two per cent of all tax money collected goes to the province; the other 58 per cent supports municipal services.
