2-alarm fire early Sunday in southwest forces evacuation of Calgary condominium complex

An early-morning fire in a southwest Calgary condo complex caused significant damage to the fourth floor and roof of one block.

An investigation is underway into an early Sunday morning fire at condominium complex in southwest Calgary.

At around 5 a.m., fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire at the pointe of View condo complex on 162 Ave. at 24 Street S.W.

Arriving crews discovered significant smoke and flames coming from the roof of the four-storey structure.

They set up three aerial master streams while another crew launched an aggressive interior offensive and were able to extinguish the fire.

There was extensive fire damage done to the fourth floor and roof, as well as water damage throughout the structure.

All residents were evacuated and they were assessed at the scene. They will be displaced for an undetermined amount of time.

There were no injuries.

Crews remain on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
