RCMP say an 18-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly stealing and fraudulently selling cattle in southern Alberta. Mounties say the Diamond Valley detachment received a report of cattle rustling, where five long-horned cows were stolen from a pasture in Eden Valley. They say the RCMP Livestock Investigation worked alongside Livestock Identifications Services inspectors and found “multiple suspicious cattle transactions involving one individual.” A news release says investigators determined that person had sold cattle through auction markets in Fort Macleod and Picture Butte and found provided documentation that was believed to be fraudulent. Further investigation revealed that several individuals listed on bills of sale could not be verified and that the registered cattle owner had not authorized the sales. As a result, an 18-year-old man from southern Alberta is charged with two counts of theft cattle over $5,000, two counts of trafficking stolen property over $5,000 and three counts of uttering forged documents. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25, 2026.
