An apartment building in South Osborne has been evacuated following an explosion in one of its suites Wednesday afternoon. According to Ed Davidson, a district chief with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, officers were called Wednesday afternoon to a possible explosion at 367 Clare St. Images from the scene show exterior damage and a blown-out window on the building. All tenants of the building evacuated before firefighters arrived. Davidson said one person was assessed by paramedics on the scene, but did not need to be transported to hospital. He added the tenants are currently not allowed in the building. “They won’t be able to be back in until a structural engineer comes out to take a look at the building, and it’ll be in their hands,” Davidson said. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. The WFPS said preliminary observations suggest the explosion was accidental.
