Mazda to unveil new CX-4 crossover for China

Mazda will unveil the all-new CX-4 crossover utility vehicle at the Beijing auto show in China in late April, further expanding its already wide range of products.

The Mazda CX-4 draws much of its form and function from the Koeru concept the Japanese automaker showcased at the Frankfurt auto show in September; a prototype with a lowered body, flowing shapes and a rounded back end (see photos here).

Larger than the newly introduced Mazda CX-3 and lower and sportier than the existing Mazda CX-5, the CX-4 is more wagon-like than both preceding offerings.

For now, however, the new CX-4 will be reserved for sale only in the Chinese auto market. Should it come to Canada in the future, it’ll find competition with the likes of the Subaru Outback and Infiniti QX30.
