Bleaching agent recalled due to lack of child-resistant packaging

A bleaching agent has been recalled in Canada after it was found to not meet labelling standards and child-resistant packaging requirements.

Health Canada published the recall on Wednesday for Osmose brand bleaching agent, which the department says was sold in an 850-gram container with the UPC 818298008055. The product was also available for sale in bulk at some retailers, Health Canada said in a release.

“The recalled product does not meet the labelling requirements and the child-resistant packaging requirements of the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act,” the release read.

“The lack of appropriate labelling and child-resistant packaging could result in unintended exposure to the products and lead to serious illness or injury. As of November 13, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.”

According to Health Canada, the company reported that 56,944 units of the affected products have been sold in Canada between November 2017 and November of this year.

Consumers looking for more information are being told to contact the product’s manufacturer, Quebec-based Total Fabrication, by phone or email.

“Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada,” the release read.

“Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.”
