An end to the below seasonal spring temperatures is finally in sight, with temperatures set to soar over the long weekend, reaching as high as 30 C. The temperature will hold at 14 C on Thursday with a mix of sun and cloud, and strong wind gusts of up to 50 km/h. Overnight Thursday, skies will be mainly cloudy but will clear before morning. The low will dip down to 3 C, with a risk of frost. “We’re expecting warming temperatures in a real taste of springtime warmth,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “High pressure building in over the Great Lakes will clear the skies out.” Atchison says building high pressure will lead to much warmer temperatures than what London has seen as of late, with a high of 20 C and a mix of sun and cloud on Friday. Looking ahead to the long weekend, Atchison says “beautiful warm air” will move into the Great Lakes. Aside from a 40 per cent chance of showers Saturday morning, “things are looking quite pleasant.” “This is Saturday morning at nine o’clock shows showers and thunderstorms moving through Essex, Chatham, Kent and Sarnia moving towards London as we push toward a noon hour, behind that back into a mix of sun and cloud, but that’s the warm air moving in,” Atchison said. Temperatures soar over the Victoria Day long weekend, with daytime highs of 24 C, 26 C and 30 C expected on Saturday, Sunday and Monday respectively. “The long weekend is looking like a win,” Atchison said.
