Alberta to raise minimum wage to $11.20 in October

EDMONTON -- Alberta plans to increase its minimum wage by $1 to $11.20 on Oct. 1.

Labour Minister Lori Sigurdson says the liquor server minimum wage will also rise to $10.70 from $9.20 per hour. But she says the government will eliminate this differential rate in 2016.

The new NDP government has promised to increase Alberta's minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2018.
